Brand Story
Tandeka Tales was born from love, memory, and the sacred responsibility of remembrance. It is a mother-owned, daughter-built legacy atelier dedicated to honoring and archiving the life stories of Black women, especially those often forgotten by traditional history. The word "Tandeka" means beloved in Zulu, and that's exactly how every woman is treated here, as beloved, as worthy, as remembered.
This atelier began as a quiet tribute, a gift from a daughter to her mother, but quickly blossomed into a movement for remembrance, dignity, and storytelling. In a world where women's histories are rarely recorded and Black women's voices often erased, Tandeka Tales exists to change that. It is where memory becomes an heirloom, where storytelling becomes resistance, and where legacy becomes beauty.
At Tandeka Tales, storytelling is sacred. Here, every woman's life is held with gentleness, written with elegance, and preserved with intention.
The Guardian and The Steward
There is a sacred thread woven between the past and the future. At Tandeka Tales, we honor that thread.
This legacy atelier is mother-owned, daughter-built. A generational gift. A firm that does not just tell stories but guards them. Protects them. Holds them like memory wrapped in silk.
The Guardian
Omolabake Obiwale is the Guardian, the heart, the original keeper of story, the woman whose life became the reason and the root of Tandeka Tales.
The Steward
Olusesola Obiwale is the Steward, the builder, the daughter, the one who shapes and shares these legacies with the world. She curates what is sacred, with gentleness and dignity.
About Our Founders
About the Guardian
Omolabake Obiwale is a woman of undeniable grace, strength, and influence. Born into Yoruba heritage in Nigeria, she is the devoted wife of a brilliant lawyer, Temitayo Obiwale, and the proud mother of four children: Olusesola, Oluwapelumi, Sikeoluwa, and Folahanmi.
Her life is a remarkable blend of luxury, hardship, beauty, and courage. As a businesswoman and confectionery expert, she has built her own quiet empire while navigating the complex paths of womanhood, from childhood to motherhood, from soft laughter to private sorrow. Her story is one of resilience, elegance, generosity, and spirit. She is the original muse of Tandeka Tales. Through her journey, she has inspired a legacy of memory-keeping for women whose stories deserve to be known.
About the Steward
Olusesola Obiwale is the first daughter, the steward of this dream. A graduate of History and Strategic Studies, she is a storyteller, writer, creative strategist, and philanthropist with a heart for impact, dignity, and legacy.
She is also the Creative Director of Tandeka Tales, where she brings stories to life, curates memories, designs heirlooms, and makes the invisible seen. She is multi-talented, driven by a passion for social change, generational healing, and the preservation of African and diasporic narratives. With every story crafted, she seeks to restore voice, value, and visibility to Black women across the world.
